When her business schedule permits, Michelle cooks
onboard Athos. She is well-known on the Canal du Midi (and in
Morzine) for her love of food and gardening. As in her Chalet,
she has repeatedly pleased clients onboard the Athos with flavorsome
and well-presented cuisine.
Chez Michelle is a high-end fully-catered ski Chalet in Morzine,
the French Alps. As the name suggests, Michelle and her husband,
Gordon encourage you to relax and make yourselves at home. Michelle
trained at Leith’s School of Cookery and Wine in London
and over the past 15 years, has cooked all over the world.

Athos Owners Dannielle & Julian bought a 1836
Languedoc barn in 2001. Because they live onboard the Athos
during the barge season, they converted the Barn for use as
a holiday let. Alas, the Barn's charm was the courtyard, which
is completely private, and surrounded by the original 18thC
stone walls. With the lawn, dining terrace and pool all behind
closed doors, this makes it particularly enjoyable in our typically
sunny Midi weather. One of the small outbuildings in the courtyard
has a large fireplace in it which was originally used for making
lye-soap -- the village story has it that the Barn was the original
wash-house which served the grand home of the Countess at the
end of the Impasse (hence the name "La Lavandiere.com").
In addition to this being a nice bit of history, the charm of
the courtyard is that both the pool and parking are entirely
private!!

A week cruising on Athos is a dream for painters and ideal for
non-painters too. Andrew John is a life-time professional painter
and tutor, a devotee of watercolour used in a pure, free and
easy style. He has thirty years of experience teaching students
at every age and level of ability.
He believes that painting ‘en plein air’ is a pastime
that has few rivals and that teaching by demonstration is the
natural way to share his knowledge. To this end his painting
holidays on the Athos have been arranged knowing that the Canal
du Midi weather is warm and reliable for painting from life
in the real world.
Pampered by a crew of five, Athos cruises luxuriously and gently
along this ancient tree-lined waterway built over three hundred
years ago. We journey for typically five or six hours each day
at walking pace whilst rural France drifts slowly by - stopping
now and again for perhaps a wine tasting or some other distraction.
We moor each evening for an overnight stay at chosen locations
to provide us with plenty of opportunity for painting and exploration
on shore.
